This is a magickal house cleaning. I've been doing same research and found that many many many years ago the broom was used for sweeping away unwanted energy along with the dirt in the house. This was one way to "hide" the fact that you were doing magick. Now you can make your own broom or besom and even use a traditional stick and bristle broom.
Need:
a cedar and sage smudge stick
fireproof bowl
and of course a broom or besom
Begin by lighting the smudge stick and blowing on it so the smoke fills the space. Use the bowl to catch any hot ashes. As you do this say:
All evil and foulness be banished,
By the will of the Goddess,
So be it!
Repeat the procedure in the other rooms in your home you want to cleanse until the while house is cleansed. Take the broom and move through your home, making sweeping motions. This sweeps any remaining unwanted energy out. Say:
With this broom
I sweep all unwanted energy
From this room.
Imagine a white light filling your home and radiating from every room.
Say:
Dear God and Goddess, bless my home
Fill it with divine love and light
With happiness and joy
Now and forevermore
So mote it be! Blessed Be!
I suggest doing this once a month or so and to do it on a new moon. The new moon is for new beginnings.
